The iPhone has become a staple in the everyday life of many people around the world today. It is therefore not uncommon to find Apple’s phone in amazing stories. Apple Insider made a small compilation for the beginning of the year, here are three of them.
$ 250,000 stolen for iPhones
The first iPhone case takes place in Massachusetts. Two 24-year-old men embezzled $ 250,000 from a natural disaster relief fund. With their loot, they bought iPhones in large quantities before reselling them. The money from this sale then ended up in offshore accounts in tax havens. The federal government has since indicted them, they should be tried in the coming months to answer for their actions.
New York robbery attempt goes viral
The second case that interests us today is about a video that has been around Instagram in recent days across the Atlantic. We see a 14-year-old young man, who is none other than the son of Keyon Harrold, a well-known trumpeter in the American jazz scene, being accused of stealing a woman’s iPhone at the reception of a hotel.
In the video the child defends himself, explaining that it is his phone and that he has not stolen anything at all. Then the woman tries to snatch the iPhone from her hands, without success. New York Police investigated and ultimately came to the teenager’s defense. She must now manage to find the trace of the woman in the video, who could not, for the moment, be identified.
$ 11,000 stolen iPhone to fill his addiction
Finally closer to us, a 52-year-old Irishman, N. McDonnell, went to court in his district to plead guilty to theft. In total, 13 iPhone 11s that the employee of a delivery company stole. McDonnell acknowledged his gesture and explained to the court that it was used to fill a gambling addiction. The trial has yet to deliver its verdict, the court postponed the case to a later date, in February, according to The Independent.
