Google has just deployed a brand new Local Pack all over the world on the computer version of its search engine. Here is what is actually changing and what impacts to expect on local SEO results and Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) listings.
Google Local Pack: what is it?
What is called the Google Local Pack it is quite simply the insert 100% dedicated to local results of Google Business Profile, formerly Google My Business when keywords intended for local search are typed in the leading search engine in France.
Here is what it looks like on desktop and mobile for the local query “Agence SEO Nantes”:

New Local Pack in desktop version, what impacts?
Deployed in December 2021, this new version of the local pack is very interesting for managers of Google Profile Business pages insofar as the map is now placed on the right and no longer above the results.
There is therefore a good chance that the pages will observe a better engagement rate and in particular more calls and clicks on the routes.
On the mobile side, no changes, the card always remains above Profile Business results, so the impact will be felt on only part of the impressions.
When we know that the vast majority of local searches are carried out on the go and therefore from a smartphone, this update to Google’s search interface should not have too much of an impact on the performance of these files either.
However, local SEO results positioned on local search intent queries outside of the local pack could see their SEO CTR (SEO click-through rate) drop in favor of these other results.
However, we will have to confirm this when we have enough data from different sources positioned on thousands of local SEO queries.
