Academy Announces Ban on Will Smith for Punching Chris Rock at the Oscars

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced a 10-year ban against Will Smith for slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars.

“The Board has decided, for a period of 10 years beginning April 8, 2022, that Mr. Smith will not be permitted to attend any Academy events or programs, in person or virtually, including, but not limited to, the Academy Awards,” says part of the statement that was released on social networks.

In this way, the Oscar-winning actor for his role in the film “King Richard” will not be able to be part of any event that is organized in the Hollywood industry.

This sanction becomes effective, despite the fact that the 53-year-old actor publicly apologized in his speech at the gala.
