Some time after appearing on Mac, the M1 chip landed on iPad. Well, the new SoC M2 should meet the same fate. And this, starting this year. Indeed, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg claimed in his last newsletter that Apple would have planned the release of new iPads at the end of the year equipped with the new Apple silicon M2 processor.
iPad Pro 11 and 12.9-inch update
It would presumably be an update to the iPad Pro 11 and 12.9 inches. The 11-inch iPad Pro currently in range is a 3rd generation model. It was released in May 2021 and is equipped with an Apple silicon M1 chip, with 8 GB of RAM (16 GB for the 1 and 2 TB storage versions).
The 12.9-inch iPad Pro is in its 5th generation. Its latest revision also dates from May 2021 and took advantage of the arrival of the Apple silicon M1 chip with 8 or 16 GB of RAM, too.
Wireless charging on schedule
Apart from the transition to the new generation of Apple silicon component, the two new iPad Pro 11 and 12.9 inches would come equipped with a wireless charging technology. Other improvements would obviously be in order, including an update of the photo sensors. Regarding the design however, do not expect any changes. Apple would study new iPad formats now, but the fruit of this work should not be seen before 2023.
According to the source in any case, the new iPad Pro 11 and 12.9 inches will arrive around September-October this year.
