Indeed, Apple has been offering a version 11.6.5 for macOS Big Sur for a few hours. This obviously does not bring new functionalities. Despite this, it is advisable to install it, because it corrects many security flaws, more than twenty according to the Californian firm.

Similarly, users on macOS Catalina (macOS 10) can install a new security update named Security Update 2022-003.

  • Impact: An application may be able to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges
  • Description: A type confusion issue was addressed with improved state handling.

  • Iimpact: An application may be able to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges
  • Description: An out-of-bounds write issue was addressed with improved bounds checking.
