Apple would have a Mac Pro M1 in stock for “months” assures Gurman

Some Apple brand analysts are more reliable than others, but some are also much more knowledgeable. This is particularly the case of Mark Gurman, journalist for Bloomberg and expert of the Cupertino company. If the latter has become accustomed to giving us information on Apple every week with its “Power On” newsletter, Gurman can also deliver news via other channels.

Mac Pro with Apple Silicon: Apple is just waiting for the right moment

In an interview recently granted to YouTuber Max Tech, the journalist notably returned to the history of the M1 chip and the arrival of Apple Silicon on Apple products. If for the moment the Mac Pro is sorely lacking in the appeal of updated products, Gurman ensures that things could have been completely different.

Indeed, the journalist explains that Apple had a Mac Pro equipped with an M1 chip already “months” ago but that it was finally decided internally not to produce such a device. Finally the Mac Pro should have the right to a new version of the M2 chip, the “Extreme”. The device is expected to be presented and sold by the end of the year or the very beginning of 2023.

Still according to information from the Bloomberg journalist, the arrival of this Mac Pro should have been made during the last WWDC, but a last-minute problem again seems to have decided otherwise for Apple. In the rest of the interview, Gurman notably returned quickly to the rumors regarding the Mac mini.

Mac mini: a little tour and it’s over?

Updated in November 2020 with the M1 chip, the device has since had the right to a size variant with the Mac Studio. This beast of competition, today the most powerful Apple device, is very similar to the Mac mini and according to Gurman Apple would not really have an interest in offering a new version of its desktop computer.

This vision of things from the journalist contrasts with other analysts of the Apple brand who expect Apple to offer a new version of its Mac mini by the end of the year.
