Since the release at the beginning of the new Samsung phones, the smartphone world has its eyes turned to comparisons of all kinds. If the benchmarks have already given Apple an advantage in terms of power compared to the latest S22 Ultra, which nevertheless has a Snapdragon 8 gen 1 chip, the quality of a phone is not limited to the power of the latter.
Indeed, other factors must be taken into account in this analysis, and the quality of the battery is one of them. In order to decide between the best iPhone available to date (the 13 Pro Max) with the new Samsung S22 Ultra, YouTuber Arun Maini decided to make a very simple confrontation.
A life-size test to pit Apple against Samsung
He thus lined up the phones, next to each other (iPhone 13 Pro Max, Samsung S22 Ultra, Samsung S21 Ultra, Google Pixel 6 Pro and Xiaomi 12 Pro). The YouTuber took care to remove the automatic backlight from the phones, he also removed the sim card and made several manipulations on the various smartphones in order to drain their battery as quickly as possible.
Quickly during his test, Arun Maini realizes that the iPhone 13 Pro Max, which nevertheless “only” benefits from a 4352 mAh battery, is more energy efficient than its Korean competitor, which nevertheless has its own side. a larger cell, 5000 mAh.
Samsung disappoints despite big promises
During the presentation of its latest generation of smartphones, Samsung announced that it had made significant efforts on the battery and the autonomy of its products. But ultimately, this test seems to prove wrong the arguments put forward by the Korean firm, which achieves less good results with its S22 Ultra than with the S21 Ultra from last year.
Finally Arun Maini notes that the iPhone 13 Pro Max will have lasted 10 hours and 27 minutes, the S22 Ultra will have lasted 8 hours and 8 minutes, or 7 less than the S21 Ultra. As for the Google and Xiaomi phones, they lasted 7:34 minutes for the Chinese product, and 7:6 hours for the Google phone, the least efficient product in this test.
Apple far ahead
If the methodology used by Arun Maini can be debated, the differences noted between the phones are too great to be linked to the experience itself, and they clearly demonstrate the capacity of Apple, which with a battery smaller than its competitors, produces a telephone with record autonomy.
