Thousands of women will wear a big smile: some for their lipstick, others for receiving help to eradicate the violence they experience.
To contribute to the construction of a new culture, where violence against us is not an impediment to achieving equal opportunities and respect for the human rights of women and girls in Mexico, the Independent Beauty Consultants of Mary Kay de México started a campaign to sell lipsticks with a cause in June.
Five months later, within the framework of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (November 25), the dedication and effort invested paid off for the benefit of Casa Gaviota and Fondo Semillas, which received two donations in the amount of 500 thousand pesos altogether, to support their programs that work daily and closely with women and their families to help them lead a life free of violence.
In addition to the financial support provided, on the 23rd, 24th and 26th, the company dedicated a space on its social networks to publish three workshops focused on this topic, entitled: “Violence-free environments”, given by Wendy Figueroa, general director of the National Network of Refuges on behalf of Fondo Semillas; “Violencia y microviolencia”, by Dolores Blancas, president and founder of Casa Gaviota; and “The best jelly in the world”, presented by Dr. Guitele Chernitzky.
Regarding the donation, Dolores Blancas, specified that it will be used for an emotional health program for women in situations of violence, which will directly benefit 500 people in awareness raising and 100 women in individual therapies, as well as 3,000 women, girls. and children indirectly. “The project aims to make people visible and sensitize about the different forms of naturalized violence and gender inequalities that are manifested on a daily basis in our society, as well as provide tools to reduce and eradicate them, through spaces for reflection that allow them take care of their physical, mental and emotional health ”, highlighted Dolores.
