Beta 2 (RC) available for iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6

iOS 15.6 fond vert brun

Apple has just released the second release candidate iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6, for developers but also for the general public. This release only comes three days after the previous one, which has the merit of being rare enough to be highlighted. In general, it is indeed necessary to wait at least a week between each version, the time that the editor corrects the bugs which have been reported to him.

With as version number 19G71, iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6, however, potentially contain other technical problems and therefore it is better not to install them on a mobile or tablet that you use on a daily basis. As Apple specifies, this is mainly software to be downloaded onto test devices, for example if you are an app creator and want to prepare your content accordingly.

Method to install iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 RC 2

The procedure to update your iPhone to iOS 15.6 RC 2 is available right here. It’s similar if you want to update an iPad instead. Be careful though, because not all models are compatible. For example, all iPhone SEs can install iOS 15.6, but not high-end iPhones released before iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s either. Note that the seventh generation iPod touch is also eligible.

For the tablets, the first iPad Air is excluded from iPadOS 15.6 as are the first three iPad minis and the first four “classic” iPads. No iPad Pro has been left out, however, which is also the case for iPadOS 16 and its new features.

Final release on the way

Since today is the second RC of iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6, it is assumed that their final version will be deployed before the end of July. Sometimes, however, Apple offers a third release candidate, but this is only punctual.

iOS 15.6 does not really bring any major improvement anyway but focuses on bug fixes. As often, Apple may have also taken the opportunity to rectify security vulnerabilities, which is why it is important to stay up to date. This fall will also be published iOS 16as presented at the last WWDC.
