Eduardo Moreno Laparade placeholder image, nephew Cantinflas, died on the afternoon of this Saturday, February 20, due to complications from COVID-19.

The news was confirmed on Twitter by the actor Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo.

It is with deep regret that I receive the news of the death of Mr. Eduardo Moreno Laparade, a supportive, kind, loving and irreplaceable friend. There are no words that describe the immense void left by his departure“, wrote.

The nephew of the so-called Mimo de México and president of the Mario Moreno Cantinflas Foundation contracted the virus at the beginning of the year. At the end of January he had to be intubated due to the consequences it caused in his body.

A few days ago, the actor, too, had undergone a tracheostomy to reduce his dependence on an artificial respirator.

With much pain we said goodbye to my Uncle Eduardo Moreno Laparade, rest in peace, I will always remember you with much affection“, wrote Mario Moreno Ivanova, grandson of Cantinflas.

In 2014, Moreno Laparade won the rights to 39 films and the name Cantinflas, after a long legal battle with Mario Moreno Ivanova, the son of the late actor.
