It is always quite easy to create an account on social networks, but it is often a way of the cross to make it disappear. To help users in their quest for internet freedom, Apple recently required apps on the App Store to allow simple account deletion directly within the app.
In order to comply with this new directive from Apple, Instagram has just implemented several changes within its iOS application. New features that relate in particular to the part of the application that governs the use and settings of the account.
As spotted by our colleagues at TechCrunch, “The Instagram app has now rolled out a new option that lets you choose to delete or deactivate your Instagram account on iOS.” If the option to delete his account is still the one that is least highlighted by the subsidiary of Meta, it is present, which complies with the new rules of the Cupertino company.
According to Apple’s terms, all applications that offer account creation must also make it possible to delete the latter directly on the application. The developers therefore had until June 30 to make this change, something that Meta did… on June 30.
How to delete your account on Instagram
If you are interested in this new Instagram feature, it will be easy to find it in the maze of app settings. All you have to do is go to your profile and in the settings of the latter. You will then have to go to the “account” sub-menu. There it will be possible to choose the option “delete your account” at the bottom of the page.
Instagram then offers to deactivate the account or delete it permanently. To avoid missteps, Instagram has still implemented a 30-day emergency backup system, which allows you to recover your account even after deleting it.

Note that other applications in the group, Meta, including WhatsApp, have announced that they will comply with Apple’s rules, but they still have not implemented an option to easily delete their account.
