A few days ago, the Île-de-France Mobilités organization announced its two-step plan for the shift to digital for tickets for the public transport network in the Île-de-France region: first reloading the Navigo pass from the iPhone, then scanning the tickets directly on the iPhone.
The first step initially announced for an arrival on January 20 has been put in place a few days in advance, since the update a few hours ago of the Vianavigo app.
The official app, now called Île-de-France Mobility, therefore allows, in its latest version 7.0.0, to reload a Navigo pass by placing it on the back of the iPhone.
Which iPhone are compatible?
The feature is currently supported by the following iPhones, provided they are running iOS 13 or later :
- iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
- iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
- iPhone X
- iPhone 11
- iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max
- iPhone 12
- iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max
- iPhone SE (2020)
The iPhone XS, XS Max and XR are not currently compatible. They will be in the future, according to the App Store file of the Île-de-France Mobilités app.
How to reload your Navigo pass from the iPhone?
To start the procedure for recharging the Navigo pass with an iPhone, follow the steps below:
- Go to the Île-de-France Mobilités application, “Purchase” tab
- Place the pass on the back of the iPhone
- A “Ready to Scan” window appears with a vibration, which indicates that the pass is detected and ready to be reloaded.
- Follow the steps shown on the screen to top up and pay for it
You have the possibility to pay with Apple Pay Of course.
It works with a card Navigo, but also with the card Navigo Easy, which therefore makes it possible without a subscription to buy single tickets contained on the card, all of this now possible from an iPhone.
