Injuries, scratches for Espanyol this season

Javi Puado.

Espanyol has not been one of the teams in the League most affected by injuries this season. Apart from the specific problems of some players in several days, the result of overloads or small muscular anomalies, there are six footballers who have suffered relevant injuries that have made a dent in the team’s performance, although only Vicente Moreno has encountered serious problems on the right side during a particular section of the course.

The first problem was Yangel Herrera. After fracturing his right tibia in the Copa América, the Venezuelan missed the first nine days of the championship and could not start until the 13th. With his absence, Espanyol lost a player called to be differential in midfield. In the second, the midfielder fell again although he was only four games away, from matchday 19 to 22. In total, he has been low 13 games, a third of the course.

Javi Puado’s was quickly added to Herrera’s loss, forced to stop due to a pubalgia that had been dragging on after a frenetic summer with the U-21s and the Tokyo Games. The striker missed seven games, from matchday 4 to 10. Espanyol’s performance was positive in those days, although in attack the team was left at the mercy of Raúl de Tomás due to the weak performance of the rest of the attackers. Aleix Vidal, with two goals, took a step forward. But that position did not last long.

Miguel Llambrich was out of the squad from matchdays 7 to 11. Although the player from Alicante has only participated in two league games, his absence coincided with that of Óscar Gil, also battered by injuries. His year has been like the Guadiana. From matchday 11 to 18 he was out due to an injury to the patellar tendon in his right knee.a period in which Vidal had to play on that right back that has given him so many headaches.

The last two players to join this list were David López and Keidi Bare. The captain, operated on his right knee, was out of the squad from matchday 15 to 21 and later from 24 to 30. Two prolonged absences that have caused him to barely participate this season 15 games. Keidi Bare has played something else although he has also lost in this final stretch of the championship and will miss the last five games, already inconsequential, due to an injury to his left knee.
