Years have passed since Kate del Castillo he lived the most bitter of episodes for his encounter with Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán. Although the capo is already behind bars and will be for life, his shadow continues to haunt the Mexican.
A few months ago, almost with prophetic vision, the actress predicted that her name would be forever chained to that of the former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel.
“I know that I will always be associated with that, I know, there will be no journalist who does not ask me about it,” he says, “but what happened to me in these years is unfair, it is a persecution that is unfair.”, he said in an interview with Milenio.
Kate was persecuted by the Mexican government, she spent years without being able to return to her homeland and now she plans to sue, but she has had room for self-criticism.
“(This happened to me) for being crazy, for being stubborn, for messaging, for not thinking about things, for not measuring the consequences, obviously I never imagined myself. I knew it was going to be somewhat controversial when the article was going to come out, after we had already paid the visit, and Sean Penn said he wanted to put my name on it. I said to him: ‘Yes, put my name, they will know anyway’ ”, he remembered.
At the end of the scandal, Kate did not see her goal of making a movie of El Chapo crystallized, she fought with Penn and lived a nightmare, just because she was a woman.
“I went to see Mr. Guzmán with three men, they were so calm there and nobody did anything to them. If I were a man, it wouldn’t have happened ”she said for sure.
