Nikkei Asia reports that Luxshare is currently building a giant factory dedicated to the production of iPhone in his country of origin; China. The building, located in Kunshan (Jiangsu) will benefit from 285,000 square meters of floor space, the equivalent of around forty football fields. The number of employees who will work there is still unknown, but several thousand service providers are already doing the work.
We were unable to access job postings for the site, but the latest news on recruitment was a problem in this society. To remedy this, its managers then chose to offer hiring bonuses, in particular to encourage former team members to return to their posts. Remember that on site, the working conditions are relatively difficult.
Luxshare’s new logistics unit should enable it to honor twelve to fifteen million iPhone shipments by next year, compared to less than seven currently. A substantial increase of nearly 50%, which is enough to seriously compete with the top names in the sector such as Foxconn, Wistron or Pegatron. They too are settled in Asia.
Of course, we immediately think of the iPhone 14 which would probably arrive on the market by next September. These should be available in four different versions; two with a 6.1-inch screen and two more with a larger 6.7-inch display. But that’s not all, since iPhone SE, too, is expected in a new edition in the first half of 2022.
A major investment
Still according to the information shared by Nikkei, Luxshare would also have bought an adjoining factory belonging to Compal Electronics, assembler of iPads which would have worked on their Pro versions with mini-LED screens. The cost of this acquisition has not been disclosed, but it would amount for the entire new complex to more than one and a half billion euros – at the current exchange rate of course, converted from a sum into yuan. .
the turnover estimate of this unit, meanwhile, would be more than ten times higher including the rental of part of the premises in addition to the assembly of the iPhone.
