With particularly impressive first performance tests, the new M2 chip Apple has something to seduce. Just announced, it’s available in two new laptops: a 13-inch MacBook Pro and a MacBook Air. It is the latter that interests us today, alongside the already excellent results of its predecessor.

For the occasion, we have written a complete comparison that you can find at this address (about ten minutes of reading). Otherwise, here is a quick overview of the main improvements to remember to guide you in your decision-making if you do not know which machine to choose. The old one is still available. at the store.

What changes

To begin with, the 2022 MacBook Air therefore features a latest generation processor: the M2. This is advertised as offering a calculation speed 1.4 times higher to that of the MacBook Air M1, but that’s not all. Indeed, Apple has also decided to integrate up to 24 GB of RAM in the MacBook Air M2 compared to 16 GB maximum with the MacBook Air M1.

On the design side, it is of course impossible not to notice that the emblematic “feather” format of the MacBook Air range has been abandoned with its M2 version. However, it remains very thin with only 1.13 cm thick for 1.24kg : an ideal product for travellers. As for the screen, it is enlarged and goes from 13.3 to 13.6 inches thanks to the arrival of a notch diverting the camera, this one also acquiring a better definition (1080p vs 720p on MacBook Air M1).
