MacOS 12.2 Second Developer Beta (Monterey)

macOS Monterey 12.2

The holiday season was a sign of great calm for Apple software. iOS 15.3 in fact dates from December 21 in public beta, while the last version of macOS dates back almost a month. Dedicated only to developers, one would have thought that it would also be offered to other users since, but no.

Instead, Apple has just discreetly rolled out a second advanced edition of macOS 12.2 for publishers, which is a direct successor to the one at the end of 2021. No change major does not seem to be in the game, however.

How to install a developer beta on my Mac?

To test macOS 12.2 beta 2, it is necessary to be registered to the dedicated program that Apple has put in place. Note that to join it, you have to pay around 87 euros per year. To find out more, the procedure is described right here. In addition, the procedure is a little different from usual the first time, since you will have to download a “profile” on your computer in order to take advantage of future updates.

What’s changing with Monterey

If macOS Monterey 12.2 apparently does not offer any new functionality (which will be verified in a few days with the first tests), others have however landed on computers headed with the previous variation.

Among them, there is in particular an improved Safari scrolling for MacBook Pro equipped with a ProMotion panel with refresh rate at 120 Hz or the abandonment of the webapp for Apple Music, in favor of AppKit. The same goes for Apple TV and its streaming catalog.
