Moto Guzzi celebrates in 2021 its centenary and it does so by looking to the future. The Italian brand is shown proud of its history and tradition, assuming at the same time that the evolution it is the only way to successfully meet the challenges that lie ahead. And the V100 Mandello which has just been presented at the Milan Motor Show perfectly synthesizes this philosophy.
All in the last proposal of Moto Guzzi points in that direction, with classic nuances enveloped by unpublished solutions. It’s like this from the first glance of a stylish motorcycle roadster, Aspect clean and fluent with a fairing integrated into its bodywork that protects the rider without being strident In the design.
It’s about a compact set, that allows a driving agile and dynamic in any environment, with a wheelbase of only 1,486 millimeters. Its chassis is a tubular steel structure, to which the inevitable is anchored V-twin engine at 90º transverse although with an absolutely up-to-date engineer. It is a propellant of contained dimensions, more even than its sister trail V85 TT, with a displacement of 1,042cc, double overhead camshaft and four valves per cylinder.
In any case, the main contribution of the new V100 is that it is the first motorcycle departure from the Mandello del Lario factory (the Italian town that names it) with liquid cooling. Thanks to all this, it achieves a performance of 115 hp and 105 Nm of torque, with 90% available from 3,500 revolutions.
A power that is transmitted to the rear wheel through the classical no less cardan by Guzzi, with an innovative design that eliminates the influence of suspensions in its function and is equated, depending on the brand, to the effectiveness of a chain. It has four driving modes (travel, sport, rain and road) that manage engine maps, engine braking levels and semi-active suspension tuning on the version equipped by Ohlins.
The information driving is offered through a display of five-inch TFT instrumentation, while the lighting is by LED and it has a cornering lighting function, which increases visibility when tilting the motorcycle.
Other of the most outstanding features of the V100 Mandello is its active aerodynamics, an unprecedented concept in the motorcycle sector. In the 17.5-liter tank, there are some deflectors that adjust automatically depending on the speed and the selected driving mode.
When they meet completely elevated, the air pressure on the pilot it is reduced up to 22%. With this, the new Guzzi offers a protection similar to that of a road motorcycle, while otherwise the wind resistance is comparable to that of a sports more performance, with which the greatest effectiveness is achieved in each circumstance.
The Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello It will be available in two versions, differentiated by equipment. The top one is the one that rides Ohlins suspensions, quick gear shifting, heated grips and platform MIA connectivity with navigation included. The brand has not defined prices for the moment for a novelty that will reach the Spanish market from the second semester of the next year.
