Kia has just introduced us to the new KIA Carens at a world premiere event in India. Recreational Vehicle (RV) is another Kia global product made in India It brings the sophistication of a family vehicle and the outward appearance of an SUV.
The Kia Carens is designed for families and has three rows of seats thanks to the longest wheelbase in its class. The car comes with a Hi-Secue security package standard on all models, including six airbags and many other systems.
Among the key points of the model we find a daring design and characteristics that according to KIA are leaders in their class. Its dynamic and bold stance gives it a SUV-like road presence while incorporating versatility into its interior design.
Connectivity will also be one of its strengths and the model will stand out for its standard and optional equipment among which we find a central 26.03 cm (10.25 ”) HD touch screen with next generation Kia Connect, a system of BOSE Premium sound with 8 speakers, 64-color mood lighting, ventilated front seats, driving modes, SkyLight sunroof and much more.
The new KIA Carens 4540 mm long, 1800 mm wide and 1700 mm high, with a 2780 m wheelbasem, the longest in its segment. That makes it a slightly larger than its predecessor in terms of overall length, but the wheelbase has been increased considerably to allow for a more spacious interior. In addition to this, it is almost as wide as the model it replaces, but it is slightly taller.
Not only has the exterior been redesigned from the ground up, but the cabin is drastically different as well. It looks much more modern and resembles recent Kia models by combining a cFully digital instrument cluster with a central touch screen for the infotainment system.
The new Kia Carens has the same engines as the Seltos such as the naturally aspirated 1.5-liter engine with 115 hp and 144 Nm of torque, a 1.4-liter engine with 140 hp and 242 Nm of torque. There is also a 1.5-liter diesel engine with 115 hp and 250 Nm of torque. The base gasoline engine has a six-speed manual transmission, but the brand offers a seven-speed dual-clutch box as an option.
As for diesel, it sends power to the wheels through a six-speed automatic torque converter.
The Kia Carens will be available in India, as well as select markets from the first quarter of 2022.
