PSG is already the best team in French football. The Parisian team achieved its tenth Ligue 1, being the second to do so after Saint-Étienne, against Lens after drawing 1-1, culminating a project started back in 2011 by QSI through a multi-million dollar investment and that has broken any established order within French football. From its foundation until 2011 it had only achieved 16 titles. Under the Qatari mandate it already has 24, although none was the Champions League, the only tournament that resists him, precisely the most complicated. This season is the eighth Ligue 1 that it has achieved under QSI’s mandate, six more than during its first 40 years of history.
The first part in the Parc des Princes was marked by the lack of effectiveness in both teams. Lens, a daring team that never gives up their style, wanted to play PSG one on one, generating chances in both areas that made the first half a Russian roulette in which neither team found the bullet. Mbappé missed three flagrant chances, Lens goalkeeper Leca prevented the 1-0 with Messi’s right leg, as well as a one-on-one against Achraf and Neymar had an opportunity in the small area, but his shot went wide. Haise’s men, on the other hand, showed why they have become a revelation in just two years in Ligue 1. He punished PSG on the counterattack and Fofana was able to score one of the goals of the day, but his shot went wide on the edge. Clauss had the clearest visitor in a great counterattack, finishing off the center in an incomprehensible way when he was alone against Keylor Navas.
In the second half, the game changed completely with the expulsion of Danso, who collided with Neymar after touching the ball and received the second yellow card. With numerical superiority, PSG played at will and found their prize in Messi’s boots. The Argentine surprised Leca with a goal from the front that he has been doing all his life and materialized his fourth goal in the championship. In the final minutes, Lens equalized thanks to a shot from Jean at the far post that did not prevent the flip. PSG won their tenth Ligue 1, which was the only title they could win after having lost in the round of 16 in the Cup and the Champions League.
