Safari 16 (beta) is available before the release of macOS Ventura

macOS Ventura app Safari

When WWDC 2022, we were able to discover the new version of the operating system for Apple computers: macOS Ventura. This brings many additional features to Apple machines, such as the Continuity of the camera or the modification of Messages sent.

With this, Safari also improves greatly and goes to its version number 16. This was until now offered as a test to developers only, but Apple chose to open it to other users.

Not for everybody

Unfortunately, it is via the program AppleSeed that Cupertino has decided to offer this advantage to the public. However, it is not possible to apply to join this panel: it is the publisher who is supposed to come to you. If you’re targeted, you’ll receive a personal invitation that connects you to an interface for getting your feedback as you use Safari 16.

New features in Safari 16

Among the novelties of Safari 16, we find the shared tab groups which make it possible to work with several people by coupling in particular to FaceTime for video calls. Each participant can also add their own bookmarks, which should greatly facilitate business collaboration. During his demonstration, Craig Federighi (Technical Director of Apple) also explained how to use this solution to prepare a remote trip with someone else.

Safari 16 also launches Access codes, a new way to log in to your favorite sites touted as more secure than any other two-factor authentication method you know today. This technology protects against certain dangers such as phishing or personal data leaks.

Around September, Apple should offer macOS Ventura in final version for the general public. With it will also come Safari 16, if all goes as planned. But many might choose not to update right away, so as not to face any unaddressed bugs. However, the developer recommends a quick installation, so as to also benefit from the latest security patches.
