The actress was not present at the Oscar Awards but after the ceremony she made a post on Instagram where she congratulated several of her colleagues. Among the celebrities whom Salma congratulated were Will Smith and Samuel L Jackson.

Will Smith won an Oscar amid controversy after throwing a punch at the comedian Chris Rock for a joke in bad taste about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith. After the incident, Will posted an apology to Chris Rock for hitting him.

“Violence in all its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior in [Premios Oscar] last night was unacceptable and inexcusable,” Smith wrote. “Jokes at my expense are part of my job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much to bear and I reacted emotionally“.

“I want to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I crossed the line and I was wrong, “continued the award-winning actor. “I am ashamed and my actions are not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in this world of love and kindness“.

“I also want to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, everyone in attendance and everyone who watched it around the world. I want to apologize to the Williams family and my family of [la película] King Richard. I am deeply sorry that my conduct has tarnished what has been a beautiful journey for all of us until now. I am a work in progress”.
