The Spanish Prosecutor’s Office counterattacked this Friday days after Shakira rejected an agreement in accordance with the Public Ministry, choosing to defend her case for tax evasion in a trial, asking for 8 years in prison for the Colombian singer, in addition to a fine of 24 millions of euros.
El País and ABC reported that the prosecution wants to punish Shakira for tax fraud, this after learning that Gerard Piqué’s ex-girlfriend lived in Spain on a regular basis, ceasing to legally pay taxes in the European country. She is accused of hiding the amount of money she received between 2012 and 2014.
“The defendant effectively remained in Spain for 242 days in 2012, another 212 days in 2013 and 243 days in 2014 and was absent from this country to attend to her professional and leisure commitments: 124 days in 2012, 153 days in 2013 and 122 days in 2014,” explains the prosecution.
Shakira, for her part, is putting together her defense and her lawyers are formalizing a document that would prove that “she never stayed the required time according to the norm.”
The Colombian, in turn. She faces her separation from Piqué, with whom she also discusses her move from Spain and the custody of her children.
