With its telephoto lens, the iPhone 13 Pro is regularly praised by critics for its ability to capture subjects up close without gaining grain. Of course there are some conditions to respect, but such photos are now within everyone’s reach.
Equipped with an opening ƒ/2.8, the sensor that enables these small feats is also available on the more expensive iPhone 13 Pro Max. The rear optical zoom, on the other hand, allows you to magnify the image up to two times. And to highlight all these advantages, Apple has chosen to organize a competition open to all.
How to participate ?
Cupertino offers individuals and professionals the opportunity to apply with their best macro photo taken with the iPhone 13 Pro or the iPhone 13 Pro Max, on the occasion of the Shot on iPhone Challenge which ends on February 16, 2022. To enter to win it, simply post your creation on social networks using the hashtags #ShotoniPhone and #iPhonemacrochallenge on Instagram or on Twitter.
The winners will be announced during the month of April by a jury of experts in the field. This is Anand Varma (National Geographic), Apeksha Maker (The House Of Pixels), Peter McKinnon (a youtuber), Paddy Chao (IPPAWARDS winner), Yik Keat Lee (Burberry, Adidas, Porsche), Arem Duplessis (NYT) and Billy Sorrentino (WIRED), aided by Della Huff, Kaiann Drance and Pamela Duff. These last three officiating at Apple.
To help you offer the best shot possible for the contest, Apple recommends in particular to get closer up to two centimeters of the scene to be immortalized. The firm also explains that the focus must be made in the center of the image, and that the ultra wide-angle can also be requested up to .5x for larger images.
