the disassembled MacBook Air M2 shows its innards

MacBook Air M2

Normally, the first MacBook Air M2 ordered online should arrive at their customers only from tomorrow, friday july 15. But as often, lucky little ones were able to receive the beast before this deadline thanks to transport companies whose organization turned out to be a little too fast. This is apparently the case for a reader of 9to5MacEnglish-speaking fellow media.

The ideal opportunity to take first shots of the beast and more precisely of its interior. The device is the one edited in a dark blue color, called Midnight by the manufacturer. To afford it, the price starts at €1,499 but this can increase depending on the options chosen. Thus, choosing a better SSD and more RAM will cost you more.

Minimalist connectivity

What we notice to begin with in these shots is that the MacBook Air M2 only ships as expected two USB-C ports. Knowing that a MagSafe socket is now back for recharging, you can always use them to plug in other accessories. The two data transfer plugs are located on the left edge of the machine, as is the power supply.

On the right, only the jack port is proposed. Under the hull, you will also notice that Apple has installed four speakers. According to his information, these offer ample stereo sound and are coupled to three microphones with directional beamforming. But their placement near the hinge is different from MacBook Pros, and could, according to the source, lead to some loss of sound quality. We’ll see in the test.

Autonomy and trackpad

In the two other images above and below, you can also see the batteries that allow the MacBook Air M2 to last up to six o’clock lit in a row in video playback with the Apple TV app. A figure that drops to fifteen hours for web browsing via Wi-Fi, but which remains very honorable for a product of this size, although the results of the Cupertino laboratories may be different from yours.

Finally, you can also see the underside of the touchpad. But no fan: beware of overheating if you launch Photoshop or Google Chrome, especially in the middle of a heat wave!
