The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas is approaching and, as planned, the BMW iX M60 has seen the light. It is the third and even more powerful variant of the new BMW Group technological flagship. What’s more, it is the most powerful and fastest car ever made by the brand. It will hit the market in June 2022.
With a completely new design that is undoubtedly giving rise to talk, the BMW iX is the first representative of a generation of cars prepared to redefine the driving experience, the feeling of interior space and the relationship between vehicles and those who. they travel on board. Furthermore, the BMW iX M60 brings together the essence of the best of three worlds.
BMW i, BMW X and BMW M GmbH models. In iX it is the first model based on a new, modular and scalable architecture on which the future of the BMW Group will be built. Conceived from the beginning as purely electric mobility, it is presented as a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) created to provide something beyond mobility.
It will be produced at the BMW Dingolfing plant, Germany. It brings together the latest developments of the company in the fields of strategic innovation of design, connectivity, electrification and technology. The fifth generation BMW eDrive technologyFeaturing dual electric motors, high-voltage battery and charging technology, it offers increased efficiency and performance.
More than 600 hp for the BMW iX M60
The range starts with the BMW iX xDrive40, which develops a power of 240 kW (326 HP). To this we must add a battery of 71 kWh, which gives it a range of 424 km. It is followed by BMW iX xDrive50 with 385 kW (523 HP) power. The 105.2 kWh battery allows you to travel 630 km on a single charge. They both have all-wheel drive.
The third and last member is the BMW iX M60. The fifth generation of BMW eDrive technology comprises the two electric motors, the power electronics, the charging technology and the high-voltage battery. The power unit developed by the BMW Group has been sustainably manufactured. The engines are synchronous with wound rotor (permanent excitement).
The usual are permanent neodymium magnets. The reason is simple: this design makes it possible to completely avoid using so-called rare earths – chemical element alloys – in manufacturing. It delivers a power of 455 kW (619 hp) and immediate torque of 1,015 Nm in Sport mode and even 1,100 Nm with function Launch Control.
In figures, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.8 seconds and reaches the 250 km / h. Regarding the lithium ion battery, it has a capacity of 111.5 kWh gross. It is located under the floor of the vehicle (between the axles). Gives the BMW iX M60 a range of up to 575 kilometers in combined cycle WLTP. The combined consumption is 24.7 – 21.7 kWh / 100 km.
Thanks to the combined charging unit, the car can be charged with alternating current from up to 11 kW and with direct current of up to 200 kW. Ten minutes of charging at a fast charging station increases the autonomy by up to 150 kilometers.
