The MacBook M1 Pro is already a victim of its success

MacBook Pro 2021 gamme

While trying to order a MacBook Pro this morning, we had to face an overwhelming finding of the devices announced last Monday: impossible to receive them for several weeks. The 14-inch MacBook Pro with 8-core CPU, 14-core GPU, 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD thus requires to wait nearly a month to be delivered to buyers.

The same goes for the version with a sixteen-core graphics card and 1 TB of storage. As for the 16-inch MacBook Pro, it’s worse: indeed, with our French address, Apple asks to wait four to six weeks depending on the configuration chosen. Potentially, the unlucky ones could therefore receive their new laptop just before the holiday season. Even though it is supposed to be released tomorrow.

How to avoid delays?

To avoid delays, it may be better to go through specialist dealers. There are many of them in France: Boulanger, Darty, FNAC, Amazon, Rakuten and even CDiscount are waiting for you. It also happens that some offer discounts precisely on the occasion of the launch of new machines.

The strategy implemented by these stores seems overall more effective than that of Apple, which would continue to suffer from shortages. In general, stores thus place orders under embargo even before the products are officially available. They also benefit from often more attractive wholesale prices, hence the promotions.
