The new Apple Watch Ultra has just been unveiled

The rumor was therefore true. Apple has just presented on the occasion of Keynote Far Out this Wednesday, a new high-end model: the Apple Watch Ultra. Among the major changes made to this connected watch, we can notably retain a new design with a larger screen. The Cupertino company targets here people attracted by exploration and long outdoor activities.

First of all, we note the presence of a screen with a sapphire crystal and a brightness of 2,000 nits, as well as a 49 mm titanium case and a redesigned digital crown. Battery life also peaks with 36 hours on a single charge, along with an extended maximum runtime of up to 60 hours.

The Apple Watch Ultra, a serious competitor for Garmin?

For example, and for water sports enthusiasts, the watch comes with WR 100 water resistance. Likewise, a depth app automatically launches when you’re underwater. Suffice to say that this option will delight scuba divers.

The Ultra also features improved multiband GPS, which includes the new L5 frequency. If this detail does not mean anything to you, you should know that only certain Garmin and Coros watches offer this functionality.

As noted by our colleagues from The Verge, this Apple Watch Ultra differs from other models of Apple connected watches which rely on connectivity assets, or even health features. Here, the emphasis is largely on fitness and the competition promises to be tough against rivals already well established in this match, such as Garmin and Polar.
