Good news for those who are thinking of buying a Peugeot electric model like the ones Peugeot e-208 or e-2008.
The latest technological advances of the brand in electrification will allow the 100% electric versions of these models to be added from the beginning of 2022 up to 25 km and 8% more autonomy in the WLTP cycle, and even more in real life.
These electrified versions that were launched at the end of 2019 have been a great success in the markets, with more than 90,000 vehicles already produced.
These two models underscore the relevance of the brand’s electrification strategy. Based on the eCMP (Common Modular Platform), equipped with a battery of 50 kWh, a 100 kW (136 hp) electric motor and 260 Nm of torque, these two bodies will show the latest technological advances, in order to offer more autonomy to their users.
First, tires have been optimized with a change to class ‘A +’, providing greater efficiency thanks to lower rolling resistance. These are the 16-inch wheels on the PEUGEOT e-208 and the 17-inch wheels on the PEUGEOT e-2008.
There is also a mechanical development with a new gear ratio, which optimizes autonomy on road and motorway trips.
Finally a new heat pump together with a humidity sensor installed at the top of the windshield optimizes the energy efficiency of heating and air conditioning.
The information communicated by this sensor allows to control with more precise air recirculation in the passenger compartment and, ultimately, protect the amount of energy contained in the battery by heating and maintaining the temperature inside the vehicle.
All these developments will guarantee a greater autonomy according to the WLTP homologation cycle (Globally harmonized light vehicle test procedures): The new PEUGEOT e-208 will now offer up to 362 km of WLTP range, an increase of 22 km. The new PEUGEOT e-2008 will offer 345 km of WLTP range, an increase of 25 km.
According to the brand itself, beyond the substantial increases in autonomy in the WLTP cycle, there are also significant increases in actual customer usage, of around 40 km, in urban traffic, yes, at temperatures close to 0 ° C.
We understand that these improvements could also reach other electrified models such as the Corsa, the Mokka and other versions with the same electrical system.
