To mark International Women’s Day 2022, The Sandbox launched a $25 million fund to support women at Web3 and Unstoppable Domains signed a pledge with 66 companies to foster diversity in the space.
Companies in the crypto sector are making an effort to expand the representation of women in the nascent space of the decentralized web.
This International Women’s Day 2022, The Sandbox and UnstoppableDomains have announced independent initiatives to bring women closer to the -still in its infancy- sphere of Web 3. Between them, they are betting more than USD $30 million in an effort to provide job and development opportunities to women within the decentralized industry .
The Sandbox and World of Women foster inclusion
The decentralized platform of virtual worlds The Sandbox announced on Tuesday a partnership with World of Womenthe women-led NFT project that promotes diversity, for the creation of a new fund.
The association aims to help women and promote diversity of thought in the space of tokens non-fungible (NFT) and Web3 through a new $25 million fund. The new alliance initiative, called “World of Women Foundation“, will provide business development opportunities and support female creators through funding, educational programs and mentorships.
According to a post on Mediumthe fund has four pillars: improve the ecosystem by supporting artists and funding projects; educate newcomers; communicate to give more visibility to women-focused causes, while inspiring others; and give back to charities.

We are delighted to partner with The Sandbox. With this grant, we will establish our mission in the Metaverse, leading and supporting women in this new space.
As part of the initiatives, a virtual museum will be inaugurated in The Sandbox which will be a showcase for the WoW Foundation. The project World of Women was born last year with the release of a collection of 10,000 diverse female NFT avatars. More recently she has partnered with the media company Hello Sunshine of actress Reese Witherspoon.
Women’s Day 2022 is all about diversity on the Web3
UnstoppableDomains is also running a new $10 million initiative to bring more women to Web3.
The domain name provider blockchain announced this Tuesday that it has signed a partnership with 66 leading Web2 and Web3 companies to form a new initiative called “Unstoppable Women of Web3“. The group aims to promote diversity and foster education with a focus on training the next generation of talent for the Web3 era.
“All partners have signed a commitment to feature work created by historically marginalized groups in at least half of all materials used for Web3 education”, commented Sandy Carter, senior vice president of UnstoppableDomains.
Among the brands that signed the commitment are: googlecloud, OpenSea, Gemini, Binance US, Consensys, Polygon, BlockFi, Decentraland, Blockchain.com, Bitstamp, Ripple and The Sandbox. Several NFT projects have also joined, including Lazy Lions, Crypto Chicks and Fame Ladies Squad.
Carter, who is also the founder of Women in Web3clarified to Decrypt that initiative It not only seeks to favor women, but also racial and ethnic minorities, the LGBTQ+ community, and economically disadvantaged groups.
