The new Toyota Hilux stands out for including important changes in the exterior design that give it a fresher, more dynamic and attractive image. Inside, some materials have been updated to achieve a better visual impression. The endowment also gains many items, to which is added the new Toyota Hilux GR Sport.
The sports versions are very popular with customers, although in this case we are not dealing with a high-performance version made by Toyota Gazoo Racing as such. Despite not being as radical as a GR Yaris or a GR Supra, the new sporty finish boasts a exclusive design and some suspensions and a set-up with specific characteristics.
The new model will arrive in dealerships in the summer of 2022.
New in the Toyota Hilux GR Sport
The black front grill features a special mesh with letter G as a motive. It incorporates a prominent central horizontal bar with the name TOYOTA in classic letters, instead of the emblem of the brand. The powerful front design is amplified by new, larger fog lamps. The 17-inch alloy wheels feature a black and machined contrast finish.
They mount off-road tires. Thematic black is reproduced on the exterior mirror caps, side sills, wheel arch trims and tailgate handle. The set highlights the deep red of the new shock absorbers and is finished off with a discreet GR SPORT emblem. In the cabin, there are some new sports front seats.
They show off a combination of black leather and synthetic suede with red perforations and contrast stitching. The GR SPORT logo is present on the seat backs, the floor mats, the start button and the animated graphic on the information display. There is no shortage of paddles behind the wheel and some aluminum sports pedals, as well as stylish inserts carbon fiber.
While the mechanics remain intact, the Hilux GR Sport has a unique suspension adjustment designed to improve steering response and handling. The key feature of the improved suspension system is the introduction of new monotube shock absorbers and new front springs. The front coil springs are now stiffer.
The new shock absorbers are painted red to highlight the special and sporty character of the Hilux GR Sport. Under the hood we find a 2.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine with 204 hp (150 kW) and 500 Nm of maximum torque. It is associated with a six-speed automatic transmission.
