In Autonoción from time to time we make trips to the past to see how things have changed in recent years. Today we want to take you 20 years back so you can see the sales data and the favorite brands in Italy, a country that although it may not seem like it has undergone important changes.
It continues as always the strength of Fiat but not with the quota of yesteryear and others like Lancia or Alfa Romeo have clearly lost prominence either by range or by volume. Meanwhile, the South Koreans have managed to climb positions and the Japanese have been losing some strength, in part due to not taking care of the supply.
In 2000, no less than 2,426,189 units were sold in Italy, a good figure in relation to the previous year, presenting an increase of 4.06%. For fuels they were times in which the diesel engine was almost mandatory, and no trace of the electric or the hybrids even though Toyota already tried to do something with the Prius (5 units), and Honda with the Insight (other 5 units). Gas did enjoy good sales.

The change in these years has been more than evident, with the only exception of the good sales of Fiat which places several models in the Top10.
