The MacBook Air M2 has just been released, with its enlarged diagonal of 13.6 inches. It could soon be joined by a more imposing second edition, this time with 15 inches for the display, according to Mark Gurman. The journalist from Bloomberg regularly publishes confirmed rumors about Apple’s secret projects.
This news could thus sign the arrival of a new laptop cheaper than the MacBook Pro, no doubt equipped with a proprietary chip like its cousins. The device would also be even thinner, and seems all intended for individuals who wish to be entertained by streaming with the Apple experience at a lower cost.
The return of the small MacBook Air?
With this, Apple would also develop another laptop this time with a 12-inch screen. As a reminder, a 11.6-inch MacBook Air had been unveiled in 2010 and kept on the shelves until 2017. The end of its marketing then coincided more or less with the advent of the iPad as a mobile workstation, in particular with the iPad Pro range of similar size.
For Gurman, this 12-inch machine would arrive end of 2023 or even early 2024. It should then also recall the brief success of the “very short” MacBook withdrawn from the shelves in 2019.
Also according to the New York analyst, MacBook Pros would also be on the way, but this time for the end of 2022 or at the latest the first months that follow. These computers would run on a M2 Pro or M2 Max processorfollowing the duo with notch available at the moment.
Under the hood, the M2 Max would then offer a twelve-core CPU and a graphics card with up to thirty-eight cores. We therefore imagine that the price will vary according to these characteristics.
Finally, these are also Mac mini and Mac Pro who would each be entitled to a new model. Logic for the tower, which has not changed since 2019 and still incorporates Intel chips while the manufacturer has chosen to focus on its own proprietary alternatives. Founded by TSMC, they are currently facing component shortages in Asia and the coronavirus health crisis.
